Y.O.U. 2013

The event continues and 2013 marks the fifth year I have registered for Youth Outreach University. Last year's post was all about having to juggle going to all the sermons and my first weekend at my first job.

Now that I am in college I find myself meeting so many new people and drifting away from the older friendships back at my home church. I loved getting to reconnect and hug on all of them again. I missed putting on concerts for my youth group in the church van. I missed being silly and worry free.

One of my favorites that I counseled kids with this summer pulled me aside and asked if we could talk. We walked up the stairs and as soon as we were seated she began telling me what all has been going through her pretty little head. I felt my stomach flip because the pain in her eyes could be seen in mine. Sin is such an evil, life-ruining thing that tries to numb our consciences into thinking everything is okay when it's not. Sin grabs at our feet as we are walking toward God and laughs as we stumble backward. Jesus transforms us and gives us the life that sin has ruined, though. Mistakes should no longer effect how we view ourselves because sin no longer defines us.

We both teared up from all the emotions traveling through our bodies. We both have let boys ruin our self esteem and feelings of worthiness. But at that moment our hearts were down on their knees in praise to Jesus because He has rescued us from what we tried to accomplish without Him. Our search for love ended with heartbreak and our Lord is desperate to mend our hearts.

Forgiveness is incredible. Y.O.U. was incredible. This youth rally was a success.
