hey oh! liberty has arrived

Barton Bible Camp Blog Series: day one. day of arrival.

The arrival day was a wonderful reunion. Although the two hours of sleep I had the night before didn’t keep me from becoming a walking zombie, I was so glad to see the rest of the junior counselors. I was ready to have the kids arrive so we could begin our fun-filled week.

As much as I liked the idea of the week going by fast so I could get back to my boy back home, I liked the idea of helping kids grow towards Christ and away from worldly things a lot more. It’s so easy to get caught up in sin and the wrong behaviors when you’re around negative influences. That’s why this camp is for the kids who want to get away, who want to breathe, and get to know Jesus away from technology and anything that takes time from God.

I was beyond ready to start teaching and helping out in whatever way I could. I had this feeling I would learn just as much as the kids I would be teaching. I always end up getting more out of the lessons I teach then the kids that are listening to my lessons. I need a spiritual boost just as much as the junior high kids that I’ll be sitting next to tomorrow. And I have a feeling that this will be a really long week but a really encouraging week as well.

Dear Journal, Barton starts tomorrow and I feel like a kid in a candy shop.
