getcha church on

Barton Bible Camp Blog Series: day two. Sunday.

The first official day of camp was a success. In themorning, we all hopped in some churchy clothes and went to go worship at asmall church of Christ nearby. We sang love songs to Jesus in a building thatwas filled with sweet, welcoming Christians. Glenwood Church of Christ, we loveyou.

Back at camp that afternoon, we went to find a haunted cabinthat us Junior Counselors have been hearing about for years. On our way up theextremely slanted hill we found trucks flipped over and pieces of glass allthroughout the area. Everyone kept joking around about getting “picked off” bythe Kirby monster. As soon as all of us reached the top of the hill, we foundout that the haunted cabin was not a haunted cabin, it was a trailer with atruck and a person inside that more than likely hated to be disturbed by abunch of teenagers. I took some pictures of the trucks, so y’all could get avisual. You’re very welcome.

The kids arrived with smiles and great attitudes, excited tolearn and get to know all of their counselors. The day was full of greatreunions from people I haven’t been around since last year at camp. They seemedto give me some energy that I haven’t been able to find for a few days, considering my sleep loss. Camp is so wonderful. Camp is a place that alwaysseems to give me this peace that I can’t find anywhere else.

This year we got some pretty rad cooks. They are the kind ofwomen who not only cook, but cook GOOD. They all look so cute in their matching shirts.

And this is the girl junior counselors. We are just as rad as the cooks are.

Some of my boys that I counseled last year remembered me anddidn’t hesitate to surround me and hand out hugs. I missed their sweet, sweethugs. And the best part about the end of the night, is that I get a shower. Yes,a shower. And camp is a place that makes me so thankful for shower time. Gimmesome soap, shampoo, conditioner, and a razor; I’ll be one happy junior counselor.

Dear journal,  Sunday was a great day. Okay, over and out.
