fifty shades of grey | opening up

fiftyshadesofgrey

I campaign against sexual abuse and teach young girls about the warning signs of abusive relationships. Every year I make at least two trips and talk to a group of teenagers on what it's like to be stripped of self worth for someone else's satisfaction. I have never been so passionate about anything in my life.

Last year I helped a fellow blogger with her series on abusive relationships and how it effects your life afterward, she had a similar past as me and we both voiced our struggles to others openly in this blogging world. I receive emails from girls that have been treated awful by their boyfriends/husbands/exes. I wish people knew that twisted guys like Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey belong in jail, not on a movie screen.

This upcoming fifty shades of grey movie has me in a frenzy. Frankly, it dehumanizes women. It disgusts me. I can't help but be repulsed when a movie involves sexual manipulation of any kind, even if it is not considered to be sexual abuse. This world has made sex into some twisted form of entertainment that we now watch on screens in our living rooms and in movie theaters. What happened to the romance and passion that God intended?

Ladies, you are more than some object that men use or get a thrill out of for one night. You are made to have an actual purpose in this life and that purpose is the exact opposite of living to make some greedy man satisfied. It upsets me when I overhear girls saying that this is their new fantasy because if they heard my story and how this twisted "fantasy" actually leaves you emotionally and physically afterward, their mind would change rather quickly.

This blog is no longer very open, I do not share my struggles or hurts or tears. It's scary. I opened up my website to more views and the thought of specific sets of eyes reading what I write is daunting. I have my secrets that I keep locked up in my heart and mind like any other, but have been able to help a lot of girls through my experience. If you have ever been through abuse of any kind fill out this super easy form {HERE} and send me what's on your mind. I have been a listening ear and give advice on having a somewhat less painful recovery. I know other bloggers that have been through similar events (they even helped me out) and can give you their e-mails as well!

I can't even listen to Spotify anymore without hearing the stupid commercials.

Rant over. I don't rant on this blog but there's a first for everything I guess.

  1. While I'm not against BDSM (what you do in your bedroom is your business), I couldn't agree with you more. Fifty Shades of Grey is disgusting and Christian Grey will never appear in my fantasies. I couldn't even finish the first book. Not only does he stalk Anastasia but he manipulates her. It's not sexy, it's sickening that girls think that love means being told what to do despite how you feel. This book makes females look weak. We should be reading about strong women. Also, I feel like people ignore the fact that Christian Grey was the product of an abusive home and he was raped by his mother's friend who introduced him to BDSM. He's mentally unstable and needs therapy before a wife and children. Ugh, I'm sorry, didn't think this would be that long.

  3. Don't be sorry, I completely agree!!! & I love this comment, thank you very much! I especially think this movie warps the minds of men who already have this problem as well. Being involved with a lot of young women who have been sexually abused and raped, I see the aftermath of something so twisted can cause. I have never felt so strongly about anything in my life, which is why I couldn't help to share my thoughts haha! Thanks for commenting Quinn! :)

  4. I know the basic gist of the book but I haven't read it. I have heard a lot of negative things about this book and the ideas it represents. The whole idea of the story was unappealing to me so I just didn't read it... and now I am even more so convinced that it's better off I didn't.

  6. Haha yeah I mean it's understandable why you wouldn't want to. I doubt the writing is anything great anyways. Sounds good:)
