alcohol anonymous
Hi, I'm Haley and I went to an alcohol anonymous meeting even though I'm not an alcoholic.
I have come to the conclusion that if you need to borrow strength, some of the strongest people I now know sit around a table at a local church on an appointed day. They struggle with a reasonably common problem that our culture seems to accept and downplay the seriousness of. Being an alcoholic is something I believe everyone can relate to because we all have our unique sets of rooted problems.
As I sat there soaking in every bit of wisdom each of the men and women shared to the group, I thought of everything in my life that I would consider my alcohol. There was men there that had struggled with alcoholism for fifty years and have stayed sober since the 1980's. If they can give up something they were so dependent on to live a life for God, I can surely give up the evil I have grown so dependent on as well. All the bad that has accumulated in my life over time has become a huge problem and I am grateful that God pointed that out to me.
It gives me hope to know that Satan has not completely conquered this world, that there are still people that truly want to do good. It is humbling to see people with rough backgrounds throw away the addictive presence of sin as they strive to be more like Jesus.
Eye openers are the best thing to live by.

My Psychology teacher says it is not the act of wanting to do good that pleases God it is being OBEDIENT; meaning doing what he wants ( And knows is best for us) despite our desires and wants to disobey we do it anyway. It is turning away even when we want it so bad that truly shows our love for God.
