thankfulness

Yep, Thanksgiving was yesterday. I'm late. Shawry!

I was in my nana's living room full of family members and I'm not sure if I could have been any happier. I hardly ever get to see them anymore now that I live in another town. The food was put away in each of our bellies within seconds as we all kept getting up to add to our plates.

My nana pulls me to the side and asks if I'm doing alright after I'm finished passing out smiles to everyone. I nod as convincingly as I could manage, and she asks me again, but this time adds the word "honestly" to the end of her question. I continue with my nodding as I tell her how great Harding has been and how amazing life is. She stops me in the middle of my explanation with "then why do I see sadness in your eyes?"

You see, I love that lady so much. She is one of the very few people that look past all the happiness and genuinely asks how I'm doing. I just started crying in her arms as she rocked me and hugged me and sang to me. She's so great because she understands the sadness I hold in my heart, for she holds sadness in hers too.

This is why the Lord gave people families. He wanted to pass out love and give us this amazing ability to look over faults, so that everyone has someone to love. I am so thankful for having a family that is thankful more than one day out of every year. To say I am blessed is quite the understatement, because I have a phenomenal family. Last night I conquered the crowds as my mom and I went Black Friday shopping and I am proud to say I am still alive. I hope all of you guys had an incredible Thanksgiving with your families!

Oh, and along with my nana's amazing skill of comforting.. her rolls are da bomb.
