knights function

It was a magical way of asking me, it really was.

Our time spent together usually consists of him pulling out a deck of cards and performing magic trick after magic trick until I figure out how he did it. The day before he asked me to meet up with him after chapel, so we walked to his dorm lobby after worship had ended and finished a chemistry assignment. He kept telling me that there was this awesome magic trick that I would never be able to figure out once he showed me, that it would leave me amazed for a week. He was so right.

His backpack contained all of the materials for the trick. He pulled out three pieces of folded paper that were of different sizes and folded into one another. I examined each paper and carefully folded them back. As I examined each of the papers, my ears caught the sound of cards shuffling. He dropped the cards periodically and told me to choose one randomly. When I flipped the card over, I found a 10 of clubs in each corner.

He then pulled out an envelope that had "The Prophecy" written on the front. Before we had even sat on the couch, he had already written a note predicting what card I would have randomly decided to pick out of the deck. I reached for the envelope and opened the paper up. He told me to read it out loud for dramatic effect.

"On November 14, 2012 Haley Phillips chose the 10 of clubs."
The first sentence amazed me. But, he amazed me even more as the sentences continued. He told me to hold the pack of decks in my left hand as I kept reading the prophecy. I spoke the next few sentences until the paragraph had ended.
"She then noticed that the pack of cards in her left hand was now wrapped in plastic with an unbroken seal."
I never felt him touch me, I never felt him change the cards. Incredible. He just smiled.
"All of a sudden, the thought crossed her mind that there might be something in the folded paper beside her."
There was no way he had put anything in the folded paper because after I had finished making sure there were no holes or slits, I was told to put it on the other side of me and then place my phone on top. He never touched the paper after I had it in my hands.

I slowly pulled each corner away from each other and his smile kept growing. In the middle of the smallest piece of paper was a folded card asking me to the Knights function. That is the most creative way any guy has ever asked me to any event.

He is going to be an incredible date.
