welcome, august

This month is a dreaded month for most high school students, where they go back to school with new school supplies and clothes. I am proud to say August no longer means that I have to step into a high school gym by 8:00 every morning, August now means I get to start a new chapter at a new school. I’m a VHS has been that has graduated high school. I just can’t get enough of this feeling.

In sixteen days I will be packing up all of my belongings and heading off to another town so that I can move in with my roommate. All of this is so crazy and fast. I feel as if it was yesterday that I was clinging onto my moms jeans begging not to go to kindergarten. Not too long ago I was the “shy kid” who needed to be held back because of social issues, and years later I’m the “kid that won’t shut up in class.” (if only teachers realized no matter where they moved me, I would find someone to talk to) Now that I am no longer a primary kid, elementary child, middle school trouble maker, junior high pre-teen, or a high school know it all I have become a college student. What a journey it’s been and will be.

As much as I will miss this town, I know it has nothing to offer me anymore. I’m just ready to start this new phase of my life without anything to hold me back. College is said to be the fastest four years of your life and so I’m ready to meet these four years with as much excitement as possible. Bring on the hard times and bring on the good times, because I want to deal with them all. And if you decide to be an awesome reader of CMC then you can follow along with me. I think I’m prepared. Let’s hope I am, anyways.

So I say “welcome” to the month of August that offers me a new beginning at Harding University. Welcome, August
