why i believe

"the search for truth is not a waste of any perons time. The answer of whether God is real or not affects every other question in your life"

When I search for this kind of stuff, I want facts. Most Christians say that it is wrong to ask or want facts about proving God before I believe him. And I think that's a completely wrong mindset to have, because if you base your faith off of meaningless words your parents, your preacher, and your friends have told you, then is it faith in God or faith in someone else's words that fall off their tongue?

So I read this book called Convicted. It will completely change your way of viewing God, because it gives you step by step factual information that PROVES God exists and he is the One who created us and this world we live in.

Did you know?

  • A caterpillar has 228 seperate and distinct muscles in it's head?
  • The average elm tree has approxiately 6 million leaves on it?
  • Your own heart generates enough pressure that it could squir blood up to 30 feet?
  • There's 3,000 different species of trees within 1 squaure mile in the Amazon jungle?
  • Plants defy gravity by drawing water upward from the ground into their stems and veins?
  • Spiders produce 3 types of silk. When they build their webs, they create  60 feet of silk in one hour, simultaneously producing special oil on their feet that prevents them from sticking to their own web?
  • Coral plants are so sensitive that they can die if the water temperature varies by even 1 or 2 degrees
  • When you get goose bumps, the hair in your follicles is actually trapping body heat?
  • Plants take in CO2 (which is harmful to us) and produce oxygen (which we need to survive)
Our earth is intricate. Our earth screams that it was created. I mean, could a "big bang" really create all of this? It just points to a creator. If you think about it, there's only one "right".. everyone has so many opinions but there's only ONE right way. It is our built in desire to know the "right way."

Watch this video. No, seriously, DO IT. It will give you a completely different outlook on daily life.

I'm skipping a lot of facts here and going straight to the seven ways to prove the existence of God BUT, if you would like me to send you an email with all of the other interesting facts and how you can  prove there is a God by using facts to put other theories out of the equation, email me. It really is some interesting stuff.

THE 7 ways. Let's prove Him, shall we?

1. Every creation must have a creator
3 options: it is eternal, it created itself from nothing, or it was created.
We know the universe is expanding so it had to have a beginning, and based on the laws of science, it is impossible for something to create itself from nothing (and also ridiculous. Even the Big Bang Theory used SOMETHING to create the Earth) so this leaves  you with "it was created" now the question is "who??"

2. Every design must have a designer
Consider the design of the Earth
How can evolution explain the Earth's position in the following:
-the right type of galaxy
-the right location within the galaxy
-the odds of being near the right sun
-being the right distance from the sun
-having the right rotation rate and proper tilt
-possessing enough water
-having the right atmospheric conditions to sustain life

3. Code requires someone to program the code
Our own DNA code, which required more than 13 years, hundreds of labs, and millions of research dollars to unravel is chalked up as merely a byproduct of some cosmological explosion.

4. Law requires a lawgiver
James 4:12; law of momentum and the law of gravity

5. The law of cause and effect
Hebrews 3:4

6. The existence of morals
mankind, unlike animals, has a moral code. "right/wrong?"
The basics. Such as murder is bad, stealing a little kids lollipop is rude, and starting a fight just because is stupid. If you think about it, most people have some moral code no matter how conservative or not.

7. Communication requires a communicator
Every day we use symbols to form words. Allows humans to communicate and build on knowledge. How is it that man is the only animal that has that unique ability?

AND FOR THE BIBLE...?
Okay. So there's a God. If you dig deep enough, you will agree. But who is this God? You can't just assume that the Christian God is "The God" right?
And what about the Bible?
I'm tellin' ya, this stuff is complicated. I question every day and when I get the answers, it leads to more questions. But never stop questioning and never stop searching. Finding your own faith is something to be proud of.

Is the Bible just a "good book"? I thought this for awhile. If you ask most Christians today where the Bible came from and how it came about, they couldn't tell you an answer. And why spend your whole life devoting everything you have to this one book if you don't even know where it came from? If the Bible isn't real, you can do whatever you want. But what if it IS? And that's not something to be ignored. Because if it is, heaven and @#!*% are real. God is real. Jesus was really the son of God. And it gives laws to follow with grace alongside.

A skeptic, William Mitchell Ramsay was a NT scholar and chose the book of Luke to prove the Bible wrong. (mentions 32 countries, 9 mediteranean islands, and 54 cities) Ramsay traveled to Greece and modern-day Turkey and instead of finding contradictions, he claimed that the book of Luke could stand even the highest scrutiny and even became a believer himself.

The 5 WAYS. To prove the Bible.

1. Unity of the Bible
Written by more than 40 authors over a period of 1,600 years, and yet they kept a consistent theme

2. Miracles of the Bible
Raise people form the dead, walk on water, heal the sick and lepers

3. Prophecy of the Bible
Have you ever considered the statistical odds of one man -Jesus Christ- fulfilling every single Messianic prophecy? I mean, EVERY SINGLE ONE.

4. Factual Accuracy of the Bible
It's withstood so much scrutiny and still stood strong. It's used as an accurate tool in archaeology.

5. Scientific Accuracy of the Bible
-Numbers 19:16-18 is a recipe for antibacterial soap; lye soap is made from the ashes of the fat of the animal and the hyssop plant which has anti fungal properties. Instructions were given to cleanse a person and their possessions after touching a dead person long before we knew about bacteria and viruses.
-Leviticius 17:15 teaches than if an animal dies naturally isn't to be eaten. Today it is against everyone's law to not eat these animals because they have bacteria which are growing unchecked by the body's immune system
-Leviticus 11 gives restrictions regarding safe foods. Verse 7 specifically points out that the Israelites were not to eat pork. We know today that these scavengers often ingest parasites such as Trichinella Spiralis, the organism that causes trichinosis
-Deut 23:12-14 instructed the Israelites to bury human waste. Today we know this is good hygiene. However, during the Middle Ages many Europeans threw human wastes into back alleys, which allowed micro organisms to flourish. Those micro organisms infected fleas, which would travel into individual homes on rats, allowing the fleas to then bite and infect millions of people. The Black Plague resulted from this carelessness and killed more than 13 million people.
-In Gen 17:12 God commanded Abraham to circumcise newborn males on the eighth day. But why not day 2 or day 12? After centuries of experiments on blood-clotting, we have learned that blood clotting is dependent on 3 factors: platelets, prothrombin, and Vitamin K. We know today that it is on the eighth day that the blood clotting factors (prothrombin) are present in their highest amounts.
