THE WEDDING // FIRST LOOK

There he was, so handsome in his snug suit. His eyes were closed but his smile said everything. My groom was walking up to the base of the stairway and I knew soon his eyes would open as I walked toward him. Before he had the chance to turn around I was the one wiping tears from my eyes. This was the moment when everything hit me, that I was about to stand next to this guy and pledge my whole life to him and him only. If this was any other guy, I honestly would not have made such a huge commitment. But this was not some other guy, this was my guy, the guy who has sacrificed so much of his time to get to know my heart and become a better person to take care of me.

His eyes. His response to what he saw was sheltered in his eyes, welcoming me to come even closer. Being in a relationship was difficult for us, we had to climb over a lot more obstacles than most. Every obstacle molded both of us into even better people for each other. We had some rougher spots around our hearts that our love refined. And that is all I saw, his refined heart under that white bow tie of his. As attractive as he looks in this picture, I pinky promise that the contents of who the man is is so much more attractive.

He knows my obsession with pretty things that fit my feet, and I couldn't wait to show off my bridal shoes for that reason. The way he looks at me when I get so excited about things, even if it is as little as a pair of shoes, makes my smile grow ten times bigger. I found someone who adores every part of me; the silly, the ugly, and the part that hides behind a mask that only he knows. He accepted me when I doubted anyone would. He held me closer when he had every reason to run away. He fell in love with me even when he knew I was broken. I'm so thankful for the man of my dreams, the guy who will forever have a place in my heart.

I am not just a daddy's girl, I am my daddy's clone. God decided to make a girl version of my dad, so here I am. We are both too Type A for our own good, efficient, driven, business-minded, and love when things go our way. The love I have for my dad has grown so much deeper in the past three years of my life, I have taken the time to really understand him unlike the former teenage version of me. Our passion for intellectual, deep conversations stems from something nestled inside our hearts, something that I never want to go away.

His toast was spectacular and sent a store of salty teardrops running down my cheeks. But I cannot reveal the toast, because I am not to that section of our wedding quite yet. Hold on to your seat.

These two men are so special to me. Stay tuned for more wedding posts! xoxo
