my ring ceremony

650ringceremony-11

Having a ring ceremony for our engagement was one of the most exciting parts of getting engaged. All the ladies of Sigma Phi Mu stand in a circle so that a candle stick with an engagement ring tied to it can be passed along. After everyone has seen the ring, the Sig Phi girl that got engaged blows out the candle and everyone runs to congratulate them!

Getting to blow out that candle was one of the best feelings ever.

The guys threw Creed in the fountain while everyone took a picture with me and my ring. My brother (guy below this paragraph) has been such an encouragement this whole year with Creed. He's made Creed feel like he belongs in our family from the very beginning. I promised my brother after the last crappy guy I dated that I would never date a guy without his approval again. He turned down several guys before Creed came along and when he met him, they both hit it off. Without my brother's blessing, I wouldn't have a ring on my finger right now!

So we're engaged! After I told a huge group of people how he proposed we were flooded with all sorts of wedding questions that we didn't even want to think about. Creed and I have focused on enjoying the engagement as much as possible without letting the stress of wedding planning get in the way. After almost a month of being engaged, I am finally starting to sit down and figure all of our plans out.

Keep stopping by for more updates on wedding and honeymoon plans! We have some really exciting news that I won't announce until it is for sure.

p.s. I had enough of a break this weekend to brave the cold and take pictures of some new styles. Cannot wait to show you guys these posts in my drafts!

  2. So fun! I lived in a house that was a lot like greek houses but are specific to my university. I loved every minute of living there! We also do a ring ceremony, we call it a 'candle lighting'. The most fun part though is that (usually) it is a secret who is engaged! KC proposed to me over spring break, so we had to tell our families/close friends not to say anything on FB etc. so that the candle lighting would be more fun. I will never forget how all the girls screamed and cheered when I blew out the candle. :) Such a good memory. Then KC came in and we told the story of our engagement. It looks like yours was so special too! How funny they threw him in the fountain! Its really sweet how your brother is welcoming him to your family. :) XO -Alexandra
