alcoholic fathers

I met her on the first day of classes here at Harding exactly one year ago. We became best friends in two seats at McDonalds as she was the first person I told any detail of what was happening to me. She became my roommate and the love of my life. She understands so much more than most people because of what she has gone through and the recovery process her family took. It amazes me at how compassionate she is toward hurting people and how she handles them with a loving arm instead of a double edged sword. Because of her past, she understands that people are not perfect and that mistakes are always going to be made. Her attitude and her encouragement for me has helped.

TWLOA is close to her heart and because of her, it has become close to mine too. She has taken me to AA meetings with her and introduced me to programs like Celebrate Recovery and Alanon. I will be forever grateful for the impact those programs had in my life, to see myself in the struggling people around me.

"Tell her something true when all she's known are lies. Tell her God loves her. Tell her about forgiveness, the possibility of freedom, tell her she was made to dance in white dresses. All these things are true." That's to you, Claire. You sent me this when everything seemed tilted, you always know how to straighten up my world.
