Her eyelashes rested on the bottom of her eyes because she feared opening them.
The rain poured without mercy and attached itself to her clothes until her bones became like ice. The moon became so dreary and provided no hope, she looked up and saw the darkness that surrounded her. She continued to let her shoeless feet carry her around the streets while letting her mind wander to past events. The conditions her life was now in was not always so. She once had love but it had slipped away to where her fingers had nothing to wrap themselves around. The mistakes and sins in her life evolved into chains around her feet and arms, it became so much harder to walk barefoot around the town.
Someone was waiting for her around the corner who knew her more than she knew herself. He loved as no one else could. He could provide the love story she had always hoped to have. All she knew was a broken version of love, a selfish pursuit of evil desires but He could give her so much more. He has watched her drag the endless chains around town in shame for so long and He cried for her pain. Instead of being forceful He had patiently waited for years after she rejected him over and over. It scared her to completely give herself and her life over to a guy who was found in a crowd of mindless worshippers mouthing the same words over again.
Before she made it to the other side of the street He stopped her from moving further by wrapping a blanket around her frozen form. He carried her in his arms so her feet could find rest. Minutes later they were both found in a hidden place with a burning fire, wrapped up in each other for not only heat but comfort. She couldn't bear to look in His eyes because if she did, she knew what her heart would feel. She knew she had hurt him and caused him grief because of her selfish ways. Forgiveness was such a foreign concept that her mind could not comprehend why it would fall upon her. He whispered of moments she longed to forget and people who treated her horribly because He knew she hid from what she needed to face. With each tear that was shed He only held her closer.
"My love, I have longed for you since the day I was born. My love, I have wanted you to be Mine before you took your first breath. Please push away what is harming you and live with Me. You are no longer a slave to sin but a lover to me. I will protect you from harm and joy will always be in your heart. Together forever is the promise I will give you. Can I please take your hand?"
Giving her hand to Him is giving herself completely to a man she always feared. He did not want half of her life, He wanted all of it. To offer her hand to Him would mean sacrifice. She was so broken though, this sacrifice seemed so much more appealing to her. He offered healing and comfort and love that is so much deeper than the love she had previously experienced.
She gave her hand to the Man who died for her. He was beaten and lived in agony so that He could have her by His side forever in eternity. She deserved a fate that she no longer has because her hand is now in His. He is her lover, He is her savior, He is her Prince Charming.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Thank you Lord for loving me. Thank you Lord for rescuing me.
