fireworks

Two feet hanging off the edge of a dried up waterfall, watching the sun go down.

Our hike began with a colorful trail and a creek that never runs out of water. As soon as we reached our destination the shoes were off our feet. He held my hand as we tested out how cold the water was. I screamed, he laughed. We began getting comfortable on top of a large rock and got lost in an hour long conversation over past relationships. I let him talk as I kept the extent of my last heartbreak to myself.

The next waterfall was the last waterfall we checked out and that is where I took all of my pictures. I discovered his fear of heights as we reached the edge of a huge drop where the waterfall had once been. He pulled fireworks out of his bag and we watched as they put on a show for us. Later, we ended up pulling out his guitar and sitting on the deck that overlooked the waterfall. He sang Mumford & Sons songs to me and I felt as if I was looking at him with hearts in my eyes. It was beautiful, everything was so beautiful. The lyrics along with the music and his voice made my heart want to sing along. He taught me how to play a song while he kept singing and I found myself smiling uncontrollably.

As perfect as I made it sound, my words don't do the day justice. But now my mind and heart are pulling me in two different directions, because as much as I know I am not ready to move on I want to try. If he is already with another girl, why can't I move on to a guy that treats me better than anyone else has before? This guy is incredible.

I know the answer already, and that's why I remain single.
