a hand for the homeless

This weekend was a weekend full of love and compassion toward the needy in the community. Some of those people desperately needed clothes and shoes that weren't torn or disgustingly worn over and over. I've never experienced such an overwhelming crowd of people that just needed the simple things like clothing and a hot meal. It was an eye opener.

I became the designated baby sitter, as I always become. My love for children gives me that title eternally. I carried on conversations with loved ones, my family, and my old youth group. It was a beautiful day to do beautiful things for the Lord. The most encouraging effort given was one given by a 90 year old woman who goes by Mrs. Opal. Out in the cold she sat, handing out bibles to the people who probably didn't own one. She's such a sweet, inspiring soul with a heart of gold.

This is my hobo sweater. It's one of those big comfy oversized "boyfriend clothes" type of thing. Except it's not something a boy would wear, it's something an overweight grandma would. But it's okay because it has become one of my prized possessions.

Today is Tuesday. Be happy, that's always a great thing to be.
